I am passionate about 3 things: worship of Jesus Christ, my family (Alyson & Aaron), and developing musicians.
At a young age, my favorite thing to do was stand on the stage and sing for the Lord. I grew up in a musical family, and my mom and dad raised me singing along with them. At age 11, I began my saxophone studies, and by the time I graduated high school I had earned a full saxophone scholarship to East Tennessee State University.
By this time, I had already began piano lessons & had the privilege to study with local music legend Edwin Taylor. In 2005, with my father and a group of friends, we began touring the region in a vocal group known as Greater Glory. Singing lead with the group, I have shared the stage with some of the most recognizable names in Southern Gospel music such as The Kingsmen Quartet, The Whisnants, & The Taylors. In fact in 2010, the National Quartet Convention named Greater Glory as one of the top 10 regional groups in the nation.
While Greater Glory still travels and sings regionally, my heart has always been with leading worship in church. I enjoy directing choral groups & have been blessed to serve as Music Minister in full-time & interim rolls at Biltmore Baptist Church (Elizabethton), Sunnyside Baptist Church (Kingsport), and Doe River Baptist Church. In 2013, I graduated Luther Rice Seminary so that I could better serve those whom I minster too.
Through all of those adventures, I was blessed to find the love of my life Alyson, and honored with a son Aaron. Through each stage of my life I have always taken the time to share what God has given me to others- the gift of music! Teaching music has never been a job for me- I consider it to be a ministry. If I can inspire at least a few students along the way to take up the passion for playing & singing for the Lord, I will consider my career well spent.
Come join me on the journey!
